Camp Fire Partners with Movie The Call of the Wild to Encourage Youth to Get in Nature and Focus on Environmental Stewardship

Camp Fire announces it is partnering with the upcoming film The Call of the Wild, in theatres February 21, which will encourage young people to get outside and care for the environment.

In the excitement for the film’s release on February 21, Camp Fire and its 52 councils in 25 states and D.C. will engage youth in their clubs and all programs, through three core campaign components.

  • Limited Edition Patch/Emblem Program – 500 Camp Fire club members will be able to earn the unique The Call of the Wild #AnswertheCall emblem by completing a service project that focuses on environmental stewardship and conservation.
  • #AnswertheCall Challenge – Any young person in Camp Fire can receive a #AnswertheCall vinyl sticker when they get outside or spend time in nature! 25,000 stickers will be given to youth as part of the campaign.
  • Online #AnswertheCall Challenge – Anyone – adults or youth – can get a digital badge by tagging a photo of themselves in nature and tagging @campfirenq and the hashtags #AnswertheCall #CalloftheWild.

“This collaboration with The Call of the Wild gives us another fun opportunity to invite young people to experience the beauty of nature, experience the adventures that can only be found when you get outside, and learn the importance of environmental stewardship,” said Greg Zweber, president and CEO of Camp Fire.

Starring Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford and Colin Woodell, this live-action/animation hybrid is based upon the novel by Jack London. Buck is a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life gets turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon in the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail-delivery dog sled team, Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime as he ultimately finds his true place in the world. Rated PG for some peril, violence, thematic elements, and mild language.

This #AnswertheCall partnership program runs from February 10 to February 28 and will lead up to Camp Fire’s Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® on March 19, which is also receiving support from The Call of the Wild with a special message from the movie’s leading actor, Harrison Ford.
